The Canadian Crafts Federation is the national member organization for Canadian craft. Membership consists of all the provincial/territorial craft councils and some institutions and galleries that are interested in the craft sector. As a member CCBC is required to sit on at least one committee – we actually sit on three – Craft Year 2015, Governance and the Advocacy committee. It is the Advocacy committee that spurred the post today. While the committee hasn’t established a clear focus and actionable strategies yet, I thought it would be interesting to post about some of the background articles that we have been requested to read. Today I received a link to the Victoria & Albert Museum website that gives a snapshot of opinions about what craft is – some interesting points to consider. Check them out here. So as a maker – what do you think – is creating a discourse about craft important for your practice?
