Professional Art Hardstone Sculpting Studio located in the Vancouver Area requires an Apprentice Sculptor.

Sopel Studio is looking for an exceptional individual who can bring their creative ideas to the work bench and yet be attentive at taking directions and working under the tulage of a master sculptor. Must be enthusiastic, highly motivated and able to work calmly under pressure. Strong drawing skills by hand are essential. A team player, must have practical knowledge of the sculpting process with a knock out porfolio to prove 3D knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities include the following:
The ability to sketch design requests on paper or stone by hand, apply stone carving techniques as well as have an innate sense of artistry and be able to produce sculptures that are consistent with designers plans.
Must be able to saw, cut or carve grooves into the stone.
Be comfortable to handle stone shapes that are both delicate as well as heavy and solid.
Be able to use pneumatic tools or surface tools according to patterns or diagrams.
Be knowledgeable with design sequence and equipment management.
Must be able to demonstrate excellent arm – hand steadiness, control precision, manual dexterity, have core trunk and leg strength.

Diploma or degree in related Visual Arts field.
An ideal candidate will have a working background with sculpting art forms in different mediums.
