In fall of 2015, The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch launched “Saving Lives Through Organ Donation” aimed at increasing organ donor registration in British Columbia. A key part of this initiative was presenting The Honourable  Amrik Virk, Minister for Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services with a Citizen’s Leadership Award. We wanted the award to reflect the spirit of the initiative. What better way than to highlight and support the work of a BC artist.

Through the guidance and assistance of The Crafts Council of British Columbia, Vancouver- based artist Hope Forstenzer was commissioned to create a beautiful and meaningful sculptural glasswork to serve as the award. In addition, a photograph of the award was used as the background image for Community Leadership Awards that now hang in 62 Service BC centres throughout British Columbia.

I would like to thank The Crafts Council of British Columbia for their support and encourage you to consider the commissioning of work by BC artists for your corporate recognition needs.
