Artist and designermaker with interdisciplinary craftbased studio practice in East Van / Strathcona is seeking a motivated, parttime intern. Primary tasks will include jewellerymaking bench work and assisting
with preparations for trade and retail shows. You will gain experience working for a professional creative working on diverse, selfinitiated projects in a variety of craft media. In exchange for your time, I offer access to my studio (bench/foredom, soldering, tumblers, etc) so you can work on your own projects.

This is an opportunity for those who are selfmotivated creatives but lack studio access. You will learn what is involved in maintaining a professional studio practice, including:
● Jewellery production (casting, fabrication, finishing)
● Quality control
● Administrative tasks
● Shipping, packing, inventory
● Documenting artwork/photography
● Preparing for trade/retail shows and gallery exhibitions
● Interfacing with galleries and retailers
● studio and material maintenance

You are interested in:
● One of a kind or limited production jewellery design
● Improving technical skills and know how
● Becoming efficient with jewellery studio skills
● Learning new techniques and ways of working
● Contemporary design, art, sculpture and craft

A jewellery/metalsmithing background is a prerequisite with an interest or willingness to assist with projects
in other areas..

The successful candidate for this internship will:
● Be enrolled in or a recent grad from a jewellery program
● Have a strong interest in production jewellery
● Have a background in jewellery/metalsmithing with beginner fabrication and finishing skills
● Have knowledge of different tools and materials
● Have strong organizational abilities and a penchant for detail;
● Have the ability to take strategic direction
