Charmian Nimmo: Still Life

Thursday, July 02, 2015 ― Thursday, August 13, 2015

I love mixing and matching found objects with things of my own making. This foray into non-functional, small scale sculptural work is the result of my love of animals….and my habit of collecting and saving things that would otherwise often be thrown away. Many wild animals have now become urban and live in the cities amongst our homes and industries.  This work is a playful attempt to create environments and stories for my own representations of these creatures in the found pieces, both natural and man-made that I have collected over the years. Some of the pieces are pit-fired which creates an organic, smoky and somewhat mysterious surface, some are mid-range fired with glazes.
