Call for Entry
This summer, CCBC and VanDusen Gardens are partnering up to offer an exciting exhibit & sales opportunity to BC contemporary wood craft artists!
What is ShopWood? ShopWood is a curated exhibit and shop featuring works by BC’s most skilled and creative wood turners, carvers and makers who will show the finest of contemporary work. Running from July 1st to September 30th, Wood(shop) will run in conjunction with the exhibit Touch Wood. Located outside VanDusen Visitor’s Centre, the shop will receive a large audience. Our aim is to have at least 50% of the exhibition work to be created from salvaged, recycled or scavenged wood, to echo the intent of the Touch Wood exhibit. The price point of products will be from $15 – $5,000 and we hope to change the stock on a rotating basis to keep the exhibit fresh and inviting for returning VanDusen visitors. We know that this call gives artists short notice to create sufficient inventory so we hope that a rotating inventory schedule may ease the pressure a bit. About Touch Wood Curated by the Duthie Gallery and VanDusen Botanical Gardens, Touch Wood is an exhibition of wooden sculptures and installations created by prominent BC wood artists. With an emphasis on salvaged, recycled or scavenged wood, the presented works express a heightened sensibility to the spirit of the north-west coast. Back for a 2nd year, Touch Wood celebrates the role of wood in the development of the province’s economy as well as its influence on the artistic culture of BC.
