Bridget Catchpole

Medium: Metal

Region: Vancouver Coast & Mountains

Bridget Catchpole is a studio jeweller in Vancouver, BC. She designs and constructs one-of-a-kind and series work. Bridget has employed a process called upcycling to non-recyclable beauty product plastic containers in her one-of-a-kind work since 2003. Thematically, her one-of-a-kind collections are often a visual dialogue between individual and cultural perceptions of worth and waste. Her series work, called Votum, is inspired by folk art traditions and is the design collaboration with her partner, Michelle Nelson. The sterling silver and bronze collection begins with parts of the human body that are commonly vulnerable or that have significant meaning and are worn as offerings of gratitude, protection, and hope.
