Ron David

Medium: Wood

Region: The Islands

Ron David is a woodturner, furniture maker and a restorer of furniture. He represents the individual, studio based designer-craftsman, accepting commissions and making single works for sale and exhibit. He is a fine woodworker who understands and exploits the natural beauty of indigenous and exotic woods. His turnings range from exquisite highly polished and gemlike boxes to totemic vessels of imposing scale and presence; incorporating natural faults in the wood or markings from deliberate scarring and alteration. His furniture designs are inspired by traditional and contemporary works and the British and American Arts and Craft Movements. The best part of turning is the challenge of making. Combine this challenge with other influences in your life, something usually forms.
