In high school in Penticton, Don was carving and making belts and purses.
As a teenager he fell in love with hotrods and started doing custom auto interiors.
Don moved to Vancouver, landing a job at Kentish House Coach Builders, restoring Jaguar automobiles.
He opened Triggerfish Design Group in 1984, designing and manufacturing seating for Earls Restaurants, Enterra Motor Car, Malibu boats and many others. In 1992, Don graduated with a major in Industrial Design, from the Emily Carr College of Art & Design.
MVKA Event Productions hired Don as the Art director; for nine years Don designed the stage sets & props for the international shows.
In 2011 Don was awarded the Design Award from the Okanagan Arts Council.
He became more involved in the digital world of design, but in October of 2016, longing to work with his hands again, Don opened Dig Leather Co.
