Jacqueline Robins

Medium: Clay

Region: Vancouver Coast & Mountains

Train tracks, cranes,
window panes
Feathers and bone.
Shoelace wires, tagged hair
loose-leaf and blown.

My work is narrative. The Home Sweet Home line reflects my experience living and working in East Van. I take photos while walking with my dog Sailor, rollerskating or revelling in the fantastic life that is my neighbourhood. Bicycles, maps, powerlines, and the ubiquitous crow are familiar to all living here.
These stories are applied with underglazes, impressing, screening, embossing. These are derivatives of traditional printmaking techniques. Both mid-temperature white clay and porcelain are my preferred medium being strong and smooth. I also love clay’s rich and dramatic history.
