Dana Reed Dan’s Garage

Medium: Metal

Region: Vancouver Coast & Mountains

Dana Reed’s jewellery consists of vignettes of nature, small views of the urban landscape, captured through her photography and turned into small pieces of wearable art. Each pieces features botanical images of Vancouver, tied to the history of the city.

These images are etched into metal, silver and copper, and formed into jewellery with traditional goldsmithing techniques. Growing up in Thunder Bay and now living in Vancouver, nature is a main inspiration and feature in her work.

Combining both the skills of photography and goldsmithing allows her to create work that is a pleasure to look at and wear, which provides a connection for people to both nature and Vancouver. Beauty surrounds us even in the urban environment and photography allows her to share the small details we tend to overlook in our daily lives and to communicate the extraordinary in the everyday.
