Jay Rudolph is a local artist and owner/designer/fabricator of Pear Shaped Designs; created with the idea of merging modern design with traditional craft techniques. A graduate of the Textile Arts program at Capilano University, Jay’s focus is tapestry and woven shibori fabric. She also studies bobbin lace, has the recognition of her peers in that field and gives workshops privately, through community centres and at conferences. Her motivation is dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail, which allows her to develop technical excellence with lots of room to explore and experiment. Jay was born in Australia and took the name Pear Shaped Designs from Aussie slang for “an unexpected outcome or a situation gone awry.”
