Since graduating from Ontario College of Art in 1979, Peter Sloan has been teaching jewellery casting, sculpture while continuing his active art and craft practice. After OCA he worked at a small company that created small figurative bronze sculptures and started teaching casting at George Brown College. He was born in Toronto, spent part of his childhood in Calgary, and then after a few years in Toronto moved to North Bay, Ontario where he taught part time at Canadore College. He recently finished the MFA Craft Media at ACAD, which he started at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland in jewellery and silversmithing. He is now located in Masset on Haida Gwaii where he is developing an Artist in Residence program, a teaching studio, creating new work and collaborating with Haida artists.
