Eva Myers-McKimm spent her childhood in Edmonton, AB before moving to Nelson, BC at 13, where she still resides. After receiving a Diploma in Ceramics at Kootenay School of the Arts in 1998, Eva simultaneously set up her studio and started a family. In 2006 she started work part time managing a live performance theatre. She has been in the studio part time between 1998 and 2020. Eva kept her hands in clay throughout that busy time by focusing on small run production work. In 2020 her kids launched and she resigned from her position at the theatre. She is currently exploring her long time passion for ceramics full time in her home studio. |
My work is functional, and comes from a formal industrial aesthetic. The forms have clean lines with intentional resolution; a sharp edge transition or a soft lip. My favourite term to describe my work is WARE. I am newly focused on cohesive results in my surface decoration techniques. My passion for graphic design and retro colourways are ever-present throughout my work. I am currently revisiting my glaze recipes and stretching my palette in colour and texture. This includes the exploration of a clay deposit that is in front of my home on Kootenay Lake. |
