“Urban Marking 4” by Jane Kenyon — cotton & rayon thread on canvas (72 x 188 x 3.5 cm),
– $5,951
“Urban Marking 4” was created in 2007 using free-motion machine embroidery. This machine allows Jane to “paint” with the thread creating a unique texture and building up the thread to make the bold colours and forms. This collection uses abstracted forms that are inspired by everyday sights.
Hand-embroidered “ A Mug with a View”
by Bettina Matzkuhn — $450
Unlike Jane’s machine embroidery, Bettina’s stitches are entirely hand done! This allows her to have greater control over the texture she creates and the details in the piece. The fabrics she uses are hand painted and sewn together.
“Strawberry Cake” by Bettina Matzkuhn
a mixed media embroidery & appliqué – $300
Fibre as a visual language. Textiles have a long history of incorporating social and personal stories. Her work is a part of this continuum. The versatile threads and textiles that she uses form a vocabulary she cultivated since childhood.
