about
The jewelry collections from Chi’s Creations draw their inspiration from the natural coastal wonders of Vancouver’s North Shore. They are designed for the contemporary woman seeking to express meaning and distinction in her everyday style. Chi Cheng Lee is a graduate of New York’s Parsons School of Design. Her artistic journey began at home with her father, a painter of Chinese watercolors on silk, and progressed to her working at 5th Avenue luxury jewelry house Harry Winston for over 18 years. Chi has accumulated a lifetime of cross-cultural experience and exposure to differing design languages. Having previously resided in 18 different residences world-wide, she has finally found her true home working from her Studio-In-The-Woods in West Vancouver, Canada. |
artist statement
A lifetime of experiences is the inspirations for my work. Born in Taiwan, I grew up in the New York metropolitan area and lived in Hong Kong before settling in Vancouver. I grew up in a family of artists, graduated from New York’s Parsons School of Design, and worked at luxury jeweler Harry Winston internationally for over 15 years. I have been exposed to a rich variety of cultures, art, architecture and natural wonders. My work has the underlying theme of “East meets West”, the interplay between materials and forms, techniques and textures. Combining Eastern traditional design sensibilities and the Western modern boundaries, I create objects that adorn the body using contrast, and the visual balance of positive and negative space. There is an inherent balance and harmony to these forms. |
