|Colleen creates art that is contemporary and sophisticated with simple, organically geometric lines using metal and fibre.|
A background in arts administration afforded Colleen the opportunity to work with many different types of artists, and she came to appreciate the process, from concept to creation. After learning the craft of silver smithing, Colleen began creating jewelry from her extensive sea glass collection which was ocean inspired, beachy, and casual.
Colleen’s work with silver evolved into experimenting with its properties and personality. She progressed into creating silver jewelry that, inspired by her travels and studies in architecture, reflects the clean, modern, and contemporary lines that she loves. Recently Colleen has begun experimenting with fibre and is enjoying the challenge of translating her designs into wearable and hangable art. Colleen’s studio is in her small, oceanside cottage on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
|I aspire to design and create original art that is a translation of the shapes I see in my surroundings. I hope my designs afford my customers the opportunity to express themselves through them.|
