I have been involved with fibre for years but only recently began working with felt, the creation of felted pieces using primarily wet-felting techniques. I am constantly amazed at the openness, the great variety of work that that can be made using felt. I recently completed a very large tepee from wet-felted batts of wool, me in the process learned a lot about my felting ancestors, the Mongolian tribes who used an entire community to create a felted home. I indulge in colour in most of my work, whether it be garments, sculptural pieces, jewellery, or pure whimsy, there is always new territory to explore. I have been successful in my submissions to several juried shows on Vancouver Island since 2012. These shows include; the Sooke Fine Arts Show, the Sidney Fine Arts Show, and the Felt:Feutre Fashion Show held on Salt Spring Island in 2013. |
