artist statement

Gloria uses plant fibres to create baskets and sculptural pieces. Her work is inspired and driven by nature. The gathering of vines, branches, roots, pine needles and found objects, and the preparation and utilization of these are equally meaningful and important in her practice.
Inspired by these materials, her work evolves organically and references narratives related to the natural world. She uses traditional techniques, sometimes in unexpected ways.
