about
Jamie Lynn Bowen is a fibre and textile artist who recently relocated to the North Coast of British Columbia. She has spent most of her life living in the concrete confines of City life and is now spending her time exploring the forest while researching the plant and fungi world for use in her natural dye practice. She uses local wools, natural fibres and local dyes to create her art through needle felting, stitch, knitting, weaving and spinning. Her creative life extends to her small business of designing needle felting kits and her art collective practice where she and her partner create opportunities for artists to show their work and connect with local community members in Tiny Art Galleries. She strives to live a creative life that leaves a small footprint on our planet and shares her passion for the arts through workshops and connecting with her community.
artist statement
Bringing the magical, natural world inside our homes and onto our bodies. I strive to create pieces that encompass the colours and textures of our natural world. In a time when we are surrounded by concrete, I strive to reach through the cracks to bring nature back.
Growing flowers, foraging for colour and sourcing local wool grounds me and connects me to a greater force and inspires me to create pieces to share that bit of magic with others.
I create my art through techniques such as needle felting, knitting, stitching and natural dying. My intentions are to create pieces that will bring joy and then return to the earth at the end of its journey.
