Mikel has been creating jewellery for over 20 years, evolving a lifelong passion into a practice rooted in artistry and care. In their Sechelt studio on BC’s Sunshine Coast, every piece is handmade using time-honoured techniques, infusing each creation with history and artistry.

At the heart of my work is a desire to make people feel special and valued—a purpose that has guided me since childhood. I am endlessly inspired by the materials themselves, especially gemstones and pearls, whose natural beauty sparks my imagination. My bench is always scattered with gems, pearls, and bits of metal, inviting unexpected juxtapositions that often shape new designs. While I do sketch, more often I simply sit down to create, allowing each piece to evolve organically into jewellery that carries both meaning and beauty.
