about

Sana Biden is a multidisciplinary artist based in British Columbia, Canada, specializing in handmade jewelry, decorative boxes, and textile table runners. Her work is rooted in Northern maritime heritage and ancestral traditions shaped by coastal landscapes, light, and symbolism.

Drawing inspiration from Northern nature, flora and fauna, maritime culture, and folk motifs, Sana creates pieces that reflect themes of protection, natural harmony, and belonging. Light, texture, and materiality play a central role in her practice, guiding her use of glass, fabric, semi-precious stones, and mixed media.

Her decorative boxes often feature stained glass elements that transform functional objects into luminous keepsakes, while her jewelry and table runners combine traditional craft sensibilities with contemporary design. Motifs of flowers and animals hold a special place in her visual language, symbolizing the deep connection between humans and nature.

Each piece is individually handcrafted, emphasizing craftsmanship, storytelling, and tactile experience. Sana’s work has been featured in craft markets and exhibitions across British Columbia and is held in private collections. Through her practice, she honours heritage as a living tradition — one expressed through handmade objects that carry memory, meaning, and human connection into everyday life.

artist statement

I create handmade jewelry, decorative boxes, and textile table runners with a strong focus on craftsmanship, material quality, and meaningful design. My work is rooted in Northern heritage and inspired by nature — coastal landscapes, flowers, animals, and traditional folk motifs.

I am drawn to the tactile and sensory qualities of materials. In my practice, I combine glass, fabric, semi-precious stones, and mixed media to create objects that are both functional and expressive. Light and texture play an important role in my work, especially in decorative boxes that incorporate stained glass elements, allowing everyday objects to carry warmth and presence.

Each piece is made slowly and intentionally, with careful attention to detail and durability. I value traditional craft techniques and see handwork as a way to preserve knowledge, care, and human connection.

Through my work, I aim to create objects that feel personal and lasting — pieces that bring beauty into daily life while honouring heritage as a living, evolving craft tradition.
