about
Husband and wife team, Dominic and Sheenah Main are Sticks + Stones Creations. They are retired with multi-faceted careers behind them: most recently, Film and Television production for Dominic and Arts Administration for Sheenah. They live and create off-grid on British Columbia’s rugged west coast where they found the time and the inspiration to pursue long-held passions. Dominic has always been drawn to wood, an interest that increased once he started to mill the “dead and down” trees on their remote property. He works primarily with arbutus, though cedar, fir and maple make appearances. Sheenah has always loved jewelry, but it was a revelation to realize that there was nothing to stop her creating her own.

I am drawn to design and texture above all else. I choose to work with pure metals, primarily sterling silver, copper and gold. Fresh-water pearls feature predominantly in my work, often in unusual colours and shapes. I refer to my work using these unusual pearls as “painting with pearls”. The “paintings” draw their inspiration from the natural world around me. As I venture further into silversmithing I look for unique ways to bring together pearls and silver in my designs. The impetus is to develop the skill set to make my imagined jewelry designs, reality.
