Thank you!
A big thanks to everyone who attended this year’s virtual opening event for The Earring Show, to every participating artist and to everyone who contributed to our annual exhibition in 2022.
Starting as a local, one-day event, The Earring Show has grown each year, first accepting artists throughout North America and now accepting artists from around the world since 2021. The show has now adapted to the current world situation, transitioning to a virtual setting. In 2022, The Earring Show was held as a hybrid event, displaying earring submissions both at the CCBC Gallery in Vancouver and online. An opening event was hosted virtually on May 5, 2022, where winners were announced.
The live event was hosted by CBC’s North x Northwest Sheryl MacKay and CCBC ED Raine McKay in celebration of wearable art.
The Earring Show featured cocktail, ‘Hooped on Pink’ was created for this year’s edition by The Liberty Distillery on Granville Island.
Congratulations to the 2022 winners:
Her work has been exhibited in-person and online through the Vancouver Metal Arts Association, Co-Adorn and SNAG. She is currently finishing her BA at NSCAD while working as a manager and instructor at Argentum Jewellery School and Supply in Victoria, BC.
Dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of her practice, Ruth uses responsibly sourced and sustainable recycled silver. Additionally, she adopts ethical principles throughout her work from eco friendly processes to recycled packaging.
Whilst her inspiration changes from collection to collection, Ruth’s main influences are science, architecture and modern art. Colour theory and grid formations are continuing themes from which she develops shapes and structures.
Rho approaches jewelry making through an exploration of spatial relationships; composing visual language by invoking elements such as repetition, juxtaposition, and hierarchy.
